Well AUNTIES, Ready to Love, season 9 has come to an end and whew chile, what a ride it has been. Folks are collectively disappointed having witnessed promising love connections crash and burn. There were rants on social media as viewers watched some contestants resort to mean girl behavior in an attempt to knock out the competition and also watched some people make beautiful romantic, sisterly and brotherly connections. Season 9 had its share of villains, who sometimes turned into our faves and then back to the villain again. The big day has finally come to see who is really ready to love. Lets get into it.
The Final Cookout
Tommy hosts a barbeque- flavored soiree for the singles to spend time with one another before decision day. Laron sat at a table by himself, so Chaz goes over to check on his boy. Laron tells Chaz he is unsure where he and Mya stand after he acted a plum fool when he saw Mya conversing with another man. Although Mya accepted his apology, Laron says he has not heard from her. Laron seems to not understand that one can accept an apology and still choose not to fuck with you ever again.
“Did you apologize in a heartfelt way, “ Chaz asked.
“I’m from Jersey” Laron answers
According to Laron, people from the Garden State don’t apologize. But when Mya shows up, he turns in his Jersey card and apologizes again. He justifies his behavior by saying he felt disrespected when Mya made him “look like a simp.”
Mya said she felt like his ego was bruised and Laron’s “possessive” and “aggressive” behavior doesn’t make her feel safe. Laron walks away.
Mya tells Tommy that she is choosing to exit the process, Laron tries to convince her to stay, but sis stood on business. She’s is clearly not ready to accept that type of love.
Meet The Fam
It’s the men’s turn to introduce the women to their families in hopes that the kinfolk can help them choose the right lady to love. Chaz seeks help from his brother Tracy. Chaz believes Tracy’s military background makes him the perfect person to sniff out any red flags.
Patrice is unmoved by Tracy’s drilling. When he took his questioning a little too far, she let him know that she would not be answering any of his boundary-crossing questions. Despite her inability to be broken down, Tracy liked Patrice.
Tracy had already received the 411 on Vanessa before he met her. Chaz told his brother that Vanessa doesn’t like dogs and he also told his brother that Vanessa didn’t take too kindly to being neglected while Chaz performed his human juggling act. Tracy tried to defend his brother by “asking” Vanessa if she realized that she was on a dating show where they would have more than one connection.
“Two is not 10” Vanessa said. Tracy couldn’t argue with that. At the end of the meeting, Tracy paid Vanessa a compliment:
“Your nails are so pretty,” he patronized.
This was the exact comment he paid to Patrice. It seems like both brothers have inherited the recycling compliments gene.
Mieka meets with Justin’s brother Jay.When Jay asks the mother-of-two if she wants more children, she gives a suprising answer.
“Yes possibly,” she said.
Mieka has been firm on not wanting more children for most of the season, but she says that she would like to see Justin as a dad. Welp, we didn’t see that coming.
Alonzo introduces Patrice to his fine cousin Jahaan. Cuz and Patrice take an instant liking to one another. Jahaan tells Alonzo that Patrice is a good look for him and gives his stamp of approval. By the way, is Jahaan single? We’re asking for a friend who might be ready to love.
Choosing Time
Justin stands on a bridge holding a bouquet of roses. Mieka appears looking like a snack in her pink bodycon dress. Justin says Mieka’s connection “feels like love” and he wants to continue their courtship.
“I chose you,” he says.
Mieka says she is not quite ready to use the L-word but she is ready to lock this thing down. The attractive duo hop on a Venice-themed gondola and ride off into the sunset. Congratulations to the newly boo’d -up couple.

Chaz presents Vanessa with a large bouquet of sunflowers. He pats himself on the back for remembering her favorite flower. When he asks her about how she feels about the process, Vanessa said that despite their beautiful moments, she is not happy with his inconsistency. Chaz says that Vanessa doesn’t have “grace” for a man like him.
“I am not so gracious with self denial,” Vanessa replied.
Vanessa said she is deserving of something that is not “tumultuous” so she decides to chose herself over chaos. Chaz claims he’s glad she made that decision because he wasn’t going to choose her.
“You’re not someone that I can love,” the rejected bloke said.
He then attempted to give Vanessa reasons why she was undesirable. Sis chuckled in response. In one last dramatic display of bitchassery, he reached inside the bouquet of sunflowers and pulled out a hidden single dead rose which he called a “petrified flower.”
He told Vanessa that it was a representation of any admiration he had for her.
“It’s died.”
Vanessa’s beautiful face appeared to display a cross between amusement and shock at Chaz’s final attempt to belittle her. Sis dodged an emotionally abusive bullet and we love that for her.
Chaz did a complete 180 from when we first saw him. He’s talking about someone being emotionally unstable, sir that was YOU!! This was very performative. 🤦🏾♀️🙄#ReadyToLove pic.twitter.com/1mYE9pXHcg

Chaz later meets with Patrice, this time with a bouquet of red roses. He tells Patrice out of all his connections, she “rose above all the other women”and she has won. Patrice doesn’t want the prize. Sis says despite the fact that he checked off many of her boxes, she doesn’t feel a “spark” with the lover-boy of season 9.
Patrice does feel a spark with Alonzo, who chose her in return. The pair seal the deal with a kiss and then disappear into the woods hand-in-hand. That was a match that we did not see coming, but we wish them the best
