Season 1 of The Never Ever Mets has come to a close. It’s time for the couples to decide if they will run off into the sunset together or if they should have never ever met. Although this finale was lackluster, it did come with a few surprises, let’s talk about it.
Dymond and Uncle Aaron
The episode begins with Unc down on one knee. He just popped the question and he’s waiting for Dymond’s answer. She says yes. The newly-engaged couple head back to the house to share their good news, but their castmates could care less. Shay congratulates the couple, but follows it up with some shady ass comments. Josh also congratulates them but abruptly leaves the room. Chris throws a jab at Dymond’s ring.
Uncle Aaron’s daughter, Aiyanna didn’t seem too happy about the engagement either. During a FaceTime call, Dymond flashes her ring to her soon-to -be stepdaughter, who was visibly shocked. She then asked if she should delete Monica from her friend’s list.
Wait, who’s Monica ?
Uncle Aaron played it cool. He claimed Monica already knows about his engagement. He told his fiancée that when women “like” him, they befriend his family on social media—red flag AF. Dymond is giving her man the side-eye but chooses to take him at his word.
Jody and Nephew Aaron
In a final attempt to win Jody’s heart, Nephew Aaron gifts her with a necklace. He then tries to redeem himself from their disastrous first date. He shows her that he has been practicing his salsa moves. Jody appeases him by dancing with him but she looks like she would rather be anywhere else.
Later, Jody tells Nephew Aaron that her heart isn’t in it and she doesn’t want to keep stringing him along. She finally frees Aaron and us from this painful- to-watch situationship.
Aaron admits that dating Jody online caused him to fall for the idea of Jody and not Jody herself. This is common, especially when one person gives the other just enough attention to keep their hopes up.
Millie and Gregg
Millie says this experience has taught her a lot about herself and she is committed to her healing. But she and Gregg are in a great place. They decide to continue their relationship offline. This should have happened three years ago since they live in the same damn city. But we are happy for them nonetheless.
Shay and Josh
After 12 years of online dating, the couple has decided to start a life together. Shay didn’t want to move to Tennessee and Josh didn’t want to move to Florida. They settle in Texas so that Josh can be closer to his children. They will both go home to their respective states for now and prepare to move in together in “six or seven months.”
Sandia and Chris
Chris has been problematic for most of the season. He boasted about playing with women’s emotions, he dismissed Sandia’s feelings and said that women are poor decision makers. This is why we wished that Sandia would have run for the hills. But she and Chris are leaving together. Let us pray.
A Gift
Now that the couples have made their decision, T’Rhonda presents a $5,000 gift card to purchase furniture for their new homes. The crew has to vote on which couple should receive the card. Since they are the only couple that’s engaged, Dymond and Uncle Aaron say they should be the winners. But the others vote for Shay and Josh. Uncle Aaron is surprised, like he didn’t know that his castmates don’t fuck with him.
The “Reunion”
Instead of an in-person reunion, Ta”Rhonda catches up with the couples via video chat. Viewers would have rather had a reunion episode because those tend to be really juicy.
First we see Alexis, who left after episode one when her and her man got into a physical altercation.
Ta’Rhonda asked her if Josh really tried to make a pass at her. Alexis said it was true. Well damn. This is why we needed everyone on stage together at a reunion.
Shay and Josh
When asked about the status of their relationship, Shay says that Josh ghosted her. Whoa, we didn’t see that coming. Josh said he had a “lot going on.” His best friend Warren, who appeared in a previous episode, passed away. He said that Shay wasn’t understanding when he stopped calling her. While grief can be difficult to navigate, it’s no excuse for ghosting your girlfriend. He also revealed that he was dating other women. Josh is full of shit. Shay deserves better and we wish her the best.
Dymond and Uncle Aaron
Dymond tells Ta’Rhonda that her relationship with Uncle Aaron has been a “nightmare.” Dymond was in tears when she told Ta’Rhonda that Uncle Aaron has inappropriate relationships with other women, including some of his ex’s. Uncle Aaron said he can’t help it if women “like” him and he refused to cut off his women “friends.” According to Uncle Aaron, their relationship is “on ice” for right now.
But according to Unc’sTikTok page, the couple has reconciled. Whew chile.

Mille and Gregg
Mille claims that she and Gregg are on a “break” but she is all smiles when Gregg pops up on the screen. The two are giddy as they openly flirt with one another. It turns out that they had a lover’s spat but they are very much still together. They play too much. They appear to be happy and in love and we love that for them.
Sandia And Chris
Sandia and Chris appear on screen together. The couple is still going strong. They’ve met each other’s families and Sandia says she spends lots of time with Chris’ parents. Chris says he is better at communicating and he now considers Sandia’s feelings. The two Haitians have a strong cultural connection and that seemed to be important to both of them. We hope that Chris has truly evolved. The couple appears to be happy and their families seem to have merged. We see wedding bells on the horizon.
Welp, it’s a wrap but OWN has announced that season 2 is coming. Will you be here for the shenanigans?
