Jazz In The Garden 2025 in Miami Gardens wasn’t just a concert; it was a living, breathing testament to the power of Black music. You had to feel it to believe it. And man, did we feel it.

Day One Highlights: Raw Emotion and Generational Fire

Ms. Lauryn Hill’s Iconic Closing Set: This wasn’t just a performance; it was a soulful revival. When Lauryn sang “Ex-Factor,” she wasn’t just performing a classic—she was delivering it with raw emotion, pulling stories from the depths of her soul. Her eyes reflected years of wisdom and power. By the time she hit “Doo Wop (That Thing),” the crowd wasn’t just singing along; they were echoing back the experiences and cultural milestones that defined Gen X. Then came the moment that brought the house down: Zion and YG Marley. This wasn’t merely a cameo; it was a family affair and a passing of the torch. Zion’s effortless cool channeled his grandfather’s spirit, while YG’s voice, a perfect blend of old-school reggae and modern vibes, proved that the Marley legacy remains vibrant. It was a profoundly spiritual experience.

Coco Jones Sets the Stage Ablaze: Coco wasn’t just performing; she commanded the stage. Our niece, who’s come such a long way from her Disney days, owned every moment. Her rendition of “Taste” brought infectious energy, while “ICU” struck an emotional chord that left the crowd tearing up. Every note carried a collective release of emotion. She didn’t just put on a show; she delivered a performance that demanded attention.

Xscape Delivers Timeless R&B Magic: The ladies of Xscape weren’t simply singing; they transported us back to house parties and mixtape culture. “Just Kickin’ It” was pure nostalgia, while LaTocha serenading her husband during “Do You Want To” gave us an unfiltered display of love. Their harmonies were as pristine as ever, proving they’ve lost none of their magic. This one was for the Aunties who remember those days vividly.

Busta Rhymes Brings the Energy, Rising Stars Shine: Busta’s rapid-fire flow was a masterclass in lyrical genius, reminding everyone why he’s a legend. Meanwhile, rising stars like Samara Cyn, Foggieraw, and Mannywellz weren’t just opening acts; they were showcasing the future of music. Each brought unique energy, from soulful vocals to witty wordplay and genre-bending vibes.

Ms. Lauryn Hill & Doechii Share a Special Moment: This wasn’t just a “shout-out” but a coronation. Lauryn brought Doechii on stage, symbolically passing the baton to the next generation. Doechii, our favorite niece, seized the moment with fire and determination, owning every beat and proving she’s destined for greatness.

A Fugees Reunion to Close the Night: “Killing Me Softly” became a shared memory, a collective anthem, while “Ready or Not” reignited the undeniable chemistry of the Fugees. This gift was for the Gen X crew, reliving their glory days through timeless classics.

Day Two Highlights: Soulful Intimacy and Unforgettable Moments

Kem’s Soulful Connection: Kem didn’t just perform; he connected. Walking into the crowd, he made eye contact and had the audience sing along, creating unity. His tribute to Angie Stone was heartfelt, a genuine acknowledgment of her enduring influence.

Beenie Man Brings the Party: Beenie transformed the venue into a Kingston dancehall, infusing the atmosphere with infectious rhythms and electric energy. When Mya made a surprise appearance, the crowd erupted in pure joy. Beenie’s segment wasn’t just a performance but a celebration of dancehall culture that had everyone on their feet.

After his performance, Auntie Magazine caught up with Beenie Man, and the proud Jamaican dropped a gem.

When asked about the global influence of dancehall and his skin in the game, Beanie said, “As long as you have the culture of the music with you and as long as you have the morality to keep the music to the reality of consciousness of what the music brings, everything will be alright!”

Toni Braxton’s Timeless Elegance: Toni’s voice, smooth as velvet, filled the night with warmth and emotion. Her tribute to Angie Stone, featuring “Breathe Again,” was a tearful and heartfelt moment of remembrance. She embodied timeless grace, shining like a diamond on stage.

New Edition’s Unbreakable Bond: New Edition’s set wasn’t just a performance but a masterclass in showmanship. Their flawless choreography, harmonies, and sheer energy showcased why they’re legends. Songs like “Can You Stand the Rain” weren’t just hits but narratives of their evolution and proof of why their longevity is unmatched! I promise I was 10 years old again.

The crowd wasn’t merely watching; they were celebrating alongside them. This one was for the Uncles who exemplified real brotherhood.
