Anise and Nate are arguably two of the most memorable cast members of The Later Daters, a Netflix docuseries produced by Michelle Obama. The eight-episode series follows six “silver singles” aged 50 and up as they go on blind dates searching for love. The highly anticipated reality show dropped on Netflix; there is so much to unpack. But for now, we will focus on Anise, 62, and Nate, 56.
ANISE
Anise became a widow before she turned 30-years-old. Her first husband died in a freak accident, leaving the young mother to raise two children alone. But the tragedy didn’t stop her. The single mother enrolled in a community college and eventually earned a doctorate. Dr. Anise leads an active lifestyle. She power walks five days a week, hits the gym regularly and Auntie’s body is banging.
The good doctor and later dater agrees to go on a blind date with George.
Anise entered the restaurant in a black curve-hugging mini-dress. Her beauty seemed to take George’s breath away. The feeling was mutual for Anise. The date started on a high note —but shit went left real quick.
When they discussed their children, George said he had one son that he “knows of,” which caused Sis to raise an eyebrow. The father of one and some possibles then asked Anise if her children had the same father. She let him know that his question was inappropriate.

George was understandably shocked when he learned that Anise was two years his senior. He complimented her on her youthful appearance but immediately followed with another intrusive question: He asked her if she had plastic surgery.
George says he lives in Chattanooga, about a two-hour drive from the Peach City, but he “fucks around.” in Atlanta. The fellow was drinking what appeared to be an old fashioned cocktail and it was apparent by the slur in his words and the diarrhea of the mouth that he couldn’t handle his drink or a stunner like Anise.
NATE
Nate is an ex-military Que Dog turned tech professional. The father of two said that he thought he would marry within five years after his divorce, but after more than 12 years, he is still single. To get his love life on track, he solicited the help of a dating coach who happens to be his baby mama.
Jackie is the mother of Nate’s oldest daughter, conceived while the former couple was in college. Nate describes his child’s mother as his best friend. The loyal homegirl has been around when Nate married another woman and produced a child from that marriage and she’s still there. The best friends were flirty at times and they sat extremely close to one another in their interviews.
Nate’s first date was with Latreecia, a svelte beauty in her 50s. Nate asked his date if they could pray before eating. Latreecia was elated by the question, and she wasted no time letting her date know that a praying man is a huge green flag for her.
The veteran said that Latreecia may have gotten the wrong idea about him. He says that although he has a relationship with God, he is no church dude. Although she checked off many of his boxes, a religious sister is an absolute no for Nate.
THE SILVER SINGLES LINK UP
Although the six “silver singles” typically don’t date one another. The producers set Nate and Anise up on a blind date, which seems like a good idea because they each have qualities that resonate with the other.
When they met, they had a mutual attraction to one another. They discussed their mutual love for exercise. Nate seemed to be taken aback by Anise’s description of her active lifestyle, which includes hiking and a strict workout routine. Nate said that he could not keep up with Anise’s active lifestyle. While in the army, Nate suffered a back injury, which ended his military career and caused permanent damage. Although he is no stranger to the gym, he is limited in what he can do. Nate said he wanted a gym girlie, but she can only work out within his limitations. The second turn-off came when Anise revealed her age. The six-year difference was too much for him. But this doesn’t work in reverse because Nate says he has a “preference” for younger women— audacity is abundant.
