Kelly Rowland shared she is the first person in her family to buy a home in a video posted to her Instagram account. The video, a political endorsement for Vice-President Harris’s bid for the Presidential election, reveals her feelings about home ownership.

Rowland recounts the joy she felt being the first in her family to accomplish such a feat. Her mother worked had as a nanny and housekeeper, Mama Rowland never had the means to buy her family a home.

“I was the first one in my family to actually buy a home,” Rowland said in the video.

“It was in Houston, Texas, and I will never forget going to the office where you fill out all of your paperwork. … When they gave me the keys to my first home, I think I cried. I think I shouted.”

The Bootylicioush singer’s claim to fame is being a member of the multi-platinum girl group, Destiny’s child. She credits the group’s success for the means to buy a home. Rowland goes on to express that, reaching the pinnacle of success should not be the only path to buying a home.

“Even though I was extremely grateful I was blessed and able to buy a home, you shouldn’t have to go platinum just to be able to buy a home.”

Rowland appears passionate about VP Harris’s plan to give citizens $25,000.00 as a down-payment to buy a home. She encourages all to get out and vote. In the caption of her post, the Mea Culpa star lists other ways the Harris-Walz ticket will benefit the Black community:

“They fight for the rights of women, the LGBTQ+ community, and everyone deserving of freedom and equality.”

Indeed the Harris-Walz ticket places a large emphasis on women’s rights. The VP has spoken fervently about abortion rights by restoring Roe V. Wade. The ticket is also focused on improving the working-class’s living conditions. The campaign promises to raise taxes on the wealthy, which provides room for working class tax cuts and a child tax credit of $6,000.00.

Aunties everywhere can benefit from those types of reforms. Rowland certainly agrees.
