Tina Knowles, affectionately known as ‘Mama Tina’ across, was named Glamour Woman of the Year. During Mama Tina’s introduction video, her multi-talented daughters Beyonce and Solange, and Kelly Rowland, spoke on the inspirational and nuanced woman they love.
The Oct. 8 tribute gave viewers a glimpse into the demeanor, grace and fierceness that is Ms. Knowles:
Solange spoke of her mother’s complexities with a special emphasis on her hands. No doubt, alluding to Ms. Tina’s role as designer and tailor for her daughters during their careers.
“My mom inspires me by being a powerhouse. There is power in her hands,” she said.
Rowland who refers to Ms. Tina as a second mom, spoke to her caretaker spirit, “My Mama T inspires me everyday to be as nurturing as she is as fun as she is.”
Beyonce let the world know that, even with all of her grace and poise, Mama Tina will show her Southern roots to protect her children. The Cowboy Carter star spoke about the elder Knowles’ “gentle, firm love,” sharing, “She’s also protective and if you try her the Galveston will come out.”

While family members heaped praise onto Ms. Tina, she herself took a moment to champion her children.
“My daughters have brought me such incredible joy and pride in my life. Far more than anything else. They are my crew, my tribe, my rocks my ride-or-dies.”
