Deion Sanders is cancer-free.
Coach Prime learned that he had bladder cancer after receiving a diagnosis on April 14. Less than a month later, Sanders had his bladder removed on May 9 and is now cured of a cancer that has a 77% survival rate, according to the American Cancer Society. This isn’t Sanders’ first run-in with medical issues, the 57-year-old football coach has dealt with health complications in the past, resulting in the amputation of two toes. During a July 28 press conference, Sanders attributed God for sparing his life.
“When we see that ‘C’ word, there’s usually a life sentence attached to it,” Sanders said. “Not this time, because God got me.”
Surviving cancer is a tremendous feat; treatment is nothing to sneeze at. Thus, having a support system in place during such a difficult time is invaluable. It was discovered that Karrueche Tran was a support unit for Sanders after an emotional video of Tran tearfully explaining the details around Sanders’ diagnosis and treatment while the former NFL quarterback sat in silence.
“We’re dealing with bladder cancer,” Tran said. “He will have his bladder removed and they will create a new bladder with one of his intestines.”

Apparently, Karrueche Tran and Deion Sanders, popping out as the latest celebrity love knot, wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card—and an intimate relationship between the two has yet to be confirmed. If the two are romantically involved, perhaps keeping it under the radar is a good thing considering the public response, as many social media users are sounding off with disdain along with surprise.

On Facebook, Maui Bigelow posted: “Deion Sanders dating Karrueche Tran is cringey to me! And to be clear, IDGAF how you feel about how I feel. It ain’t my business and I know they don’t GAF how I feel but that’s my opinion.”
Several social media users opined the assumed relationship between Tran and Prime wasn’t an issue at all. One commenter stated, “She is me… I love a silver fox man.. always have always will,” while another commenter Teresa Jones-Smith shared, that Karrueche is “37 she not no spring chicken” before referencing couple Draya Michele and Jalen Green and their controversial age gap.
Jones-Smith made a valid point.
The former girlfriend of Chris Brown isn’t a child bride and she wasn’t one when she dated Brown. While there’s a 20-year difference between Karrueche, 37, and Coach Prime, 57, she happens to be a fully grown ass woman, approaching her auntie era. Tran is a woman who deserves to freely navigate her dating experience without being policed for dating an older man, albeit a man old enough to be her dad.
According to the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health, research suggests, “the development and maturation of the prefrontal cortex occurs primarily during adolescence and is fully accomplished at the age of 25 years.” Unless mental health is compromised, emotional and social maturity is purely based on experience and personal development.
“The development of the prefrontal cortex is very important for complex behavioral performance, as this region of the brain helps accomplish executive brain functions,” the study reveals.
The age gap in dating has always been a slippery slope to traverse, particularly as it relates to older adults partnering with young adults who have very few life experiences and those who are still developing and maturing. If Karrueche and Prime are romantically involved—this ain’t that. These are consenting adults.
Social media allows people a platform to criticize without critical analysis. Judgement without discernment is really just gossip.
The tea here isn’t a possible relationship reveal. The real tea is that it’s still Prime Time. Coach Prime, with all his health challenges, has received a new lease on life. Sanders mentioned treatment “scared me to death.” He is blessed to have had someone by his side at such a dark time—as many are often abandoned.
