Wendy Williams AUNTIE MAGAZINE’s 2024 Auntie of the Year, and just because we’ve entered 2025 doesn’t mean we’re done celebrating the Daytime Diva.
The queen of “Hot Topics” has faced a tumultuous few years. The abrupt end of The Wendy Williams Show in June 2022 marked the start of a series of challenges. Williams has been battling public struggles, including Wells Fargo seizing her assets and appointing a conservator to manage her funds. It was also announced through her attorney that the radio rebel rouser would not be returning to television or any other media platform, as she has been deemed “permanently incapacitated.” Contrary to that report, Williams was seen attending her son Kevin’s graduation in December and in recent days, her protege Charlamagne Da God has debunked that news after a phone conversation with the Queen of media:
“I don’t know what incapacitated means in dementia or whatever they say she was dealing with,” Charlamagne shared on The Breakfast Club.
“But no, ain’t nothing incapacitated about Wendy Williams.”
Williams has given fans and critics more than enough laughter, gossip and shade to last a lifetime. Auntie will be celebrated forever. In honor of our favorite shady Auntie, we’re looking back and highlighting nine of Wendy’s shadiest moments.
1) Good morning, Sharina
Williams went through a public divorce from her philandering husband, Kevin Hunter. Instead of insisting on privacy, the icon made her personal life a leading topic during her show. She boldly called out her husband’s mistress and his illegitimate child.
2) “Congratulations, Nikki Minaj”
After announcing Nicki Minaj’s marriage to Kenneth Petty, Williams took a not-so-subtle shot at Petty’s sex offender status. She stated that Minaj was comfortable with sex offenders, as her brother was also arrested for sexual assault.
3) There’s No Xscape
When famous 90s girl-group Xscape reunited on the Wendy Williams show the quip queen piped up slinging shade left and right. Pointing out that lead singer Latosha used to disguise her weight by hiding behind the rest of the group members. No group member was spared.
4) “Here’s Your Flowers, Joseline”
Joseline Hernandez of Love & Hip Hop fame sat with Wendy and demanded her flowers for the work she’s put in during the course of her career. Wendy graciously responded before dismissing Hernandez and her tantrum with a simple command, “shoe cam please, show me your shoes.”
5) Happy Birthday Beyonce (Kim K. Could Never)
Never one to hold her tongue, Wendy wished Queen Bey a happy birthday and shaded Kim Kardashian at the same time.
6) Nick Cannon Has Never Had An STD
While speaking with Nick Cannon about sexually transmitted diseases Williams was shocked when the TV host claimed to have never contracted an STD.
“All those girls you’ve been with,” she quipped to the father of 11.
7) Sheree Whitfield Training Nene Leakes
During a tea session with Nene Leakes, Williams suggested the Real Housewife of Atlanta’s on-screen nemesis Sheree Whitfield be her physical trainer because Whitfield was now into fitness. The running joke being Whitfield is much like Tommy from Martin, no one can seem to pin down her job.
8) Tamera Mowry On Her Knees
It is unclear what kind of behind-the-scenes tea Williams has on The Real host Tamera Mowry, but she alludes to the famous twin being comfortable giving out sexual favors during the course of her career.
9) Tea With The Queen Aretha Franklin
Williams is a Queen of throwing shade but so is Aretha Frankline. This tête-à-tête saw both women planting palm trees equally. While Aretha gave amusing answers about who would star in her biopic, Williams pointed out the Queen of Soul’s proclivity for pig feet.
