Where is Wendy Williams?: The question has been asked in her absence and it is finally being answered in the Lifetime documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams? The doc spans two years, chronicling Wendy’s fall from the limelight.

The newly-released trailer offers insight into what else might have been going on in the talk show host’s life that fans may have been curious about. The beginning of the trailer serves as a reminder of who Wendy Williams was. It opens with the former shock jock on the set of The Wendy Williams Show, walking amongst a throng of fans looking fabulous.

“From six-years-old all I wanted was to be famous,” Williams says in the opening voiceover.

After a quick montage of her success and the reveal of her star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, the screen fades to black and the story being told gets just as dark. Wendy appears thin in stature and erratic in behavior. Multiple cuts of Wendy show her being aided in walking, sitting and standing while holding on to a husky man who may be her bodyguard, possibly a result of the star’s challenges with Lymphedema, Graves Syndrome and alleged addiction. There’s a point in the trailer where her son Kevin Hunter Jr. stares directly into the camera stating,

“My mom has always done a good job making everything seem okay, always. but in reality there’s something wrong.”

His mother might agree but whether it is for similar reasons has yet to be seen since Wendy is clearly appalled by her circumstances and uses herself as a cautionary tale to others.

“I have no money and I’m going to tell you something. If it happens to me it can happen to you,” the talk show host says during an interview.

Wendy’s financial issues are no secret. In 2022, Fox News reported that Wells Fargo froze Williams’ assets, claiming she was not “of sound mind.” Wendy filed a restraining order against the bank seeking access to her funds.

The Where Is Wendy Williams? Trailer seems to confirm that Wendy is not in control of her life.

“She has people around who are ‘yes’ people and allowing this to continue,” Kevin Jr. says of Wendy’s current entourage.

This may be in reference to the unidentified “guardian” responsible for Wendy’s health and finances. Though, if there is a person who oversees these things then why is Wendy seemingly out of sorts, belligerent, physically frail and drinking during multiple shots in the documentary? How does that work?

The new year is off to a messy start with Katt Williams shaking things up on Club Shay Shay and Nikki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion’s going at it and Where Is Wendy Williams? is par for the course. The internet has been calling for Wendy’s return. Fans have been eager for her to get back in the chair and wade through the messy waters of celebrity culture like only she can.

In light of this documentary, Kevin Jr may have a point when he said “I think my mom has worked enough.”

Perhaps, it’s time Wendy Williams gets a real break with loving and caring providers. Only time will tell.

According to a press release, Lifetime will bring awareness to SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), NAMI for Mental Health Resources, and share information and resources for Graves’s Disease and Lymphedema on its social media during programming.

The network will run back Wendy Williams: The Movie and the 2021 documentary, Wendy Williams: What a Mess on Feb. 23.

Tune in to Where is Wendy Wiliams? Feb. 24 and 25.
