Mutihyphenate Beyoncé gave Vice President Kamala Harris permission to utilize her song “Freedom” as the anthem of her 2024 presidential campaign.

Harris’s team secured Beyoncé’s last-minute approval just hours before Harris sauntered out to the empowering song at her campaign headquarters on July 22.

“Freedom,” from Beyoncé’s acclaimed 2016 Lemonade album, featured West Coast rapper and Drake ender Kendrick Lamar, became an unofficial anthem during 2020’s impassioned George Floyd protests.

She backed the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020, but the megastar hasn’t publicly endorsed the vice president’s new bid.

While Beyoncé has not made any official endorsement since President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the presidential race, her mama, Tina Knowles, did.

Posting a photo of herself and Harris on July 22, Knowles wrote,”New, Youthful, Sharp,  energy !!!! You asked for it, and our President Biden did what was best for the country! Putting personal Ego, power and fame aside. That is the definition of a great leader. Thank you, President Biden, for your service and your leadership. Go Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Let’s Go ❤️❤️❤️❤️ #kamala2024

Beyoncé’s addition of “Freedom” to Harris’ presidential campaign is fresh off the high of Black women showing up and out for the vice president.

Harris is also still adhering to her vice presidential duties, taking time to offer condolences to fallen politician, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Jackson Lee died on July 19, following a battle with cancer.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was a tenacious advocate for justice, a tireless fighter for the people of Houston and the people of America, and a dear friend for many years. She was relentless — one of our nation’s fiercest, smartest, and most strategic leaders in the way she thought about how to make progress happen. Doug and I send our prayers to her husband, her children, and her beloved grandchildren.”
