Universal Orlando Resort is adding a new layer of enchantment to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this March. The resort announced the launch of its Second Generation Interactive Wands, featuring groundbreaking technology. It enhanced spell-casting experiences, giving fans an even more immersive way to explore the magic of Harry Potter’s world.

The next-generation wands, which will be available starting March 1, feature light-up effects, haptic vibrations, and other innovations that make spellcasting come to life like never before. These updates are complemented by new wand magic locations, a personalized wizarding journey via the Universal Orlando Resort App, and enhanced interactivity across Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, and the highly anticipated Ministry of Magic area in the forthcoming Universal Epic Universe theme park.

All-New Second Generation Interactive Wands

The second-generation Interactive Wands will launch with four unique designs and come with exclusive features, including light and vibration effects tailored to specific spells. Each wand will be packaged in a specially designed box with a “wand burst” icon, along with a map showing the various spell-casting locations throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Guests can also enhance their wizarding journey by connecting their wand to Universal Play, a feature within the Universal Orlando Resort App, which offers:

  • Personalization: Create a Wizard Profile complete with a Wizard Name, Hogwarts House, Patronus, and Avatar. These elements integrate into guests’ spellcasting, adding a personal touch.
  • Exclusive Adventures: Complete challenges tailored to different levels of expertise and unlock new spells and achievements.
  • House Points: Earn points for your Hogwarts House, compete on the leaderboard, and track your progress. A daily House Cup winner will be crowned based on total points earned by each house.

Expanded and Enhanced Wand Magic Locations

Guests can discover five new interactive wand locations in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, bringing the total number of magical spell-casting spots to 30. Highlights include:

  • The Duelling Club Tent (Hogsmeade): Cast spells to animate a dueling dummy and test your magical skills.
  • The Owl Post (Hogsmeade): Freeze mischievous pixies as they dart across windows and hide among packages.
  • Knockturn Alley Staircase (Diagon Alley): Summon your Patronus to ward off a dementor lurking in a dimly lit staircase.
  • Ariadne’s Spinners (Diagon Alley): Repel invading spiders of various sizes from a newspaper-covered window display.
  • Knockturn Alley Sky (Diagon Alley): Cast weather spells to summon a storm or calm the skies above the alley.

Existing spell-casting locations throughout The Wizarding World have also been upgraded with new special effects, spellbooks to guide participants and other interactive enhancements.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe

When Universal’s Epic Universe opens this year, fans will have 14 additional wand magic locations to explore in the Ministry of Magic. These experiences include adventures with magical creatures like Nifflers and Demiguises and quests to uncover the secrets of the Philosopher’s Stone.

How to Purchase the New Wands

Guests can purchase the Second Generation Interactive Wands at Ollivanders Wand Shop in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, as well as Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magiques in Place Cachée, located in the Ministry of Magic. Wands will also be available at select retail locations throughout Universal Orlando Resort.
