Alicia Brown, celebrity host Big Tigger’s wife, has a big ass gash on her face. It runs from her forehead, cuts through her eyebrow, and settles in the hood of her eyelid. From the looks of this wound, Brown required quite a bit of stitching and she will likely have a nasty scar embedded into her facial features. You can never really know how Black skin might heal. Sometimes—it keloids.

Keloids bubble up from under the surface and take up more space than a simple scar does in the healing process, presenting more of a reminder of it got there in the first place.

The Timeline of the Allegations and Arrest

In early June, Brown revealed the injury by video on Instagram, captioning the post “Someone ask my husband why my face happened” and included the radio host’s on-air colleague by IG handle.

Darian “Big Tigger” Morgan took to IG on June 12 to deny any and all speculation of abuse. On June 20, Big Tigger was arrested for “aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the third degree,” booked at Fulton County Jail according to 11Alive News, and bailed out shortly thereafter on a $10,000 bond, WSB reported. The alleged assault was recorded on a ring camera, the police warrant read. The news circulated like wildfire.

As a response how the public may have interpreted her post, Brown later clarified that she did not say her husband was an “abuser.”

The Rise of Misogynoir in the Comment Sections

Some of the loudest public response was and still is riddled with misogynoir—that is, hatred, prejudice, or discrimination directed at Black women—from a whooooole lot of Black women:

Some cautioned men to be mindful of the women who they partner and procreate with.

Misogynist

Another intimated that Brown might be lying to the point of injuring herself as payback for being cheated on.

Someone else piggybacked off comments made about Brown’s past by influencer Jessie Woo.

Others capped for Big Tigger, commending the radio host for being “kind,” positive and drama-free most of his career.

The comment sections of several platforms runneth over with shade, skepticism and mockery toward Brown, despite the nasty scar on her face; despite the detailed police affidavit; despite evidence of the assault that was captured on video by a ring camera in the couple’s home after a heated argument on suspected cheating. These females doubled down on their allegiance to Big Tig and showed zero sympathy for Brown, bringing up her past and credibility, as if she was on trial for having a jagged cut over her eye.

In the year of our Lord 2026, and to nobody’s surprise, Black women victim-blaming Black women is still hella real.

A Historic Pattern of Victim-Blaming Black Women

We saw this reaction from Black women in 2024, when Cassie Ventura accused entertainment mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs of copious amounts of abuse—despite seeing him stomp her head and shoulders as she cowered on the ground in a video that he paid $50,000 to keep out of the public eye.

We also witnessed this reaction in 2021, when not one, not two, but 11 Jane Doe accusers testified that singer “R. Kelly” sexually abused them, six of whom were underaged girls at the time of occurrence—despite that notorious videotape the flooded the hood in 2002, the one of Kelly “allegedly” engaged with not one, not two, not three, not four, but five underage girls, one of whom was 13 or 14-years-old at the time of recording. The indictment is outlined by the Department of Justice and remains public record.

In an effort to do damage control, Tigger, Diddy and Kelly each refuted the claims. Subsequently, Tigger, Diddy, and Kelly were all charged and arrested. These are shitty men. And by shitty men, I mean those who cannot control their anger, nor their lower desires, those who lay hands on Black women.

It begs the questions, why do so many Black women shit on Black women—particularly, in defense of shitty men?

Understanding Internalized Bias and Misogynoir

The apparent answer is internalized bias, wherein a marginalized individual or group (in this case Black women) adopts the negative stereotypes, behaviors and attitudes of the oppressive society (patriarchy) and projects it back onto its own marginalized demographic (Black women).

Quite frankly, that’s sucka shit 101 … especially, when proof is in plain sight.

It is self-hating, pickme, clownish and complicit. It’s the type of behavior that co-signs and compounds the core characteristics of misogynoir. Black women who justify a lack of empathy and dismissal of another Black woman’s abuse is really no better than the victim’s abuser. Black women who assassinate Black women’s character while absolving men who are violent toward women are dangerous. They cannot be trusted. Like the men they defend—they ain’t shit.

The Physical and Psychological Cost of Trauma

According to the warrant for Tigger’s arrest —and the video recording—Brown was pushed by her husband and flew headfirst into a door, resulting in “a deep laceration over her left eye.” It runs from her forehead, through her eyebrow, and settles in the hood of her eyelid.

Contributing to that trauma is uncalled for. You can never know how difficult it might be for this Black woman to heal.

Trauma, like keloids, bubble up under the surface and take up more space and time in the healing process, presenting more of a reminder of how it got there in the first place.
