Our village auntie Anita Baker is getting the side-eye across social media for sic’n concert security on fans who were attending her Houston, Texas show.

According to several clips floating around TikTok and across social media, the D-Town songstress was mid ballad when she got “Caught Up in the Rapture” of raising hell and interrupted the set. Baker went full, elder auntie on fans before a crowded audience at H-Town’s Toyota Center. The honorable Baker called on security multiple times, then stated emphatically, “Security, help them out.” The “Sweet Love” singer continued: “And I mean out … of my front row.”

Responses of surprise could be heard in the clip. Surely, folks were wondering what could have possibly triggered Baker to go there. On It’s Onsite an instagrammer @collierlew asked in the comments, “Is that powder she’s on?” Another IG user questioned, “Why is she so mean spirited?” then continued: “SMH, I’m not a fan of people who treat their fans like this.”

There may be some credence to Bakers’ outburst.

In another surfaced clip, Baker is seen telling a concertgoer to “Turn off your camera, baby,” as camera flashes we’re going off around her.

“I don’t know who you are,” Baker sang. “Move back.”

Several social media users commented in her defense regarding the camera flash:

“Yall slow if y’all think she is being rude because someone flash was in her face,” @moniques14 typed. “Yall finna act like sis is not elderly going from city to city with Covid and every new virus out. I’m with sis Anita move the hell back.”

Don’t hold ya breath waiting for AUNTIE Anita Baker to “Apologize.” It seems the “Fairytales” singer has no plans on saying sorry any time soon—and she seem to give zero fucks about folks criticizing her behavior.

And according to a recent tweet after the Houston show and by her own admission, it seems AUNTIE got “petty” for days.

Baker’s remaining shows for 2023 are Dallas, Los Angeles and Oakland, California, returning February 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama, according to Ticketmaster.
